2004 Olympic Diving Team Mission Statement

The mission of the 2004 USA Olympic Diving team is to unite as one. We will support one another and embrace the Olympic experience together. We will represent the USA with integrity and honor. We will give our all; success is the only option.

Team Update

The 2004 Olympic Diving Team is training at University of Houston for the Olympic training camp from June 28-July 9. All the divers and coaches are staying together and training from 9-11 AM and 3-5 PM everyday.

7/2/04 On Friday evening July 2nd the team had the unique opportunity to be introduced at the Astros Baseball game in Minute Maid Park. The team got to go out on the field and be introduced one by one and stand there for the playing of the National Anthem. They then got to sit in a VIP Skybox and enjoy the game eating fajitas.

7/3/04 The team was able to participate in The Woodlands Fourth of July Parade on Saturday July 3rd. After the parade the team participated in a diving exhibition at the Woodlands Athletic Club. The show included every Olympian performing a few dives and clown diving by Dick Kimball and Russ Bertrum.

7/3/04 That night the team had a great time at the Houston Symphony playing at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. They announced the team and they got to do the ceremonial lighting of the canons during the finale. See pictures below.

7/7/04 The team had the unique opportunity to go to Johnson Space Center and visit NASA. The divers got a special tour where they saw mission control, met astronauts, got to climb in simulators, etc. See pictures below- more pictures will be coming soon of their adventure!

7/8/04 The team had a team dinner at Avalon Diner in Houston- divers chowed down on great food and enjoyed exceptional service! Pictures coming soon.

7/15/04 The athletes from The Woodlands are participating in The Woodlands' "US Olympic Diving Team Send-Off and Autograph Session" on Saturday the 17th from 2-4pm. Sponsored by Foley's, The Woodlands Operating Company, L.P., the WAC and Emerald Homes, a D.R. Horton Company, this free event will take place in Foley's at The Woodlands Mall, Olympic shop, second floor.

7/17/04 The team leaves on Sunday the 18th for Sr. National Championships in Mission Viejo, CA. It will be the last competition for the US divers before the Olympic Games. Competition starts on Tuesday the 20th through Sun the 25th.

7/26/04 The team performed well at the Sr. National Championships. Kimiko won her 3 Meter event, Caesar Garcia won tower, Laura Wilkinson won 10M, and Troy Dumais won men's 3M. Articles on the nationals can be found below. The team is back home for 2 days and then they are off to Greece on Thursday the 29th.

7/28/04 Well, we are off and on our way. I am so excited and ready for this moment. The team will be meeting up in Washington and flying over via Munich. We get into Athens and go through processing then train for a few days, then we leave the hype and go train in Berlin. Wish us well and cheer us on!! If you email me off the website I probably won't be able to respond until I get back, but thank you for writing. GO USA!!
